Low Back & Hips
As posture and weight distribution change, the low back, hips, and glutes tend to carry more of the load. Focused, comfortable work in this area may help ease muscular tension and support easier movement.
Pregnancy asks a great deal of the body. Low back tension, hip discomfort, tight shoulders, restless legs, and the simple wish to lie down somewhere comfortable are all good reasons to book. Postpartum bodies are doing hard work too, in a season where rest is rarely easy to come by.
This is unhurried therapeutic massage tailored to the pregnant or postpartum body — pregnancy-appropriate supported positioning, adjustable pressure, and time that belongs entirely to you. I have provided prenatal massage since earning my prenatal massage certification through Bodywork for the Childbearing Year in 2007.
A few things clients often describe before booking prenatal or postpartum massage. This is not a checklist or a diagnosis — just common experiences.
As the body changes through pregnancy and again after delivery, muscles adapt to new posture, new weight, and new daily demands. Massage is designed to address that muscular tension directly, and may help support comfort, relaxation, easier movement, and a greater sense of being supported in your own body.

Feeding, holding, rocking, and simply carrying a growing belly all pull on the neck, shoulders, and upper back. These areas often appreciate slow, unhurried attention.
Legs and feet work hard during pregnancy and the early postpartum weeks. Gentle, well-supported work here is something many clients look forward to most.
Sometimes the most valuable part of the session is simply quiet, uninterrupted time where nothing is being asked of you. Rest is a legitimate reason to book.
After delivery, bodies are adjusting to new demands and new positions. Postpartum massage may offer comfort, muscular relief, and a moment of care during a very full season.
I do not use belly cutout tables or prone pregnancy cushions in my prenatal massage practice. Every pregnancy is different, and I do not consider those systems a one-size-fits-all solution.
Instead, I use supported side-lying and other pregnancy-appropriate positioning so I can adjust pillows, bolsters, and support to the individual client, her stage of pregnancy, and her comfort that day.
My goal is to provide a relaxing, well-supported session without placing unnecessary pressure or strain on the abdomen, pelvis, hips, or low back.
After many years of prenatal massage experience, I have found that individualized side-lying support gives me the flexibility I want when caring for pregnant clients. This is a practice choice based on experience, comfort, and professional judgment — and if you have received side-lying prenatal massage before, this will feel familiar. If you have not, I will walk you through it before we begin.
This is not a one-size-fits-all massage. It is built around your body, your comfort, and your feedback.
You tell me where you are in your pregnancy or recovery, what your body is noticing, and what you would like the session to focus on. Nothing is assumed.
I use supported side-lying and other pregnancy-appropriate positioning, and I use as many pillows and bolsters as it takes for you to feel genuinely comfortable.
Your comfort guides the pressure. We find something that feels supportive to you, and we change it any time you would like it changed.
You remain professionally draped throughout, and every part of the session happens with your consent.
If a position stops feeling comfortable, we simply reposition. Getting up, shifting sides, or taking a moment is always welcome.
Pregnancy and postpartum recovery change week to week. The session is shaped around what feels supportive for your body that day.
Dedicated prenatal and postpartum appointments are available in three session lengths. Each one is tailored to your comfort, your stage of pregnancy or recovery, and the areas that need the most attention that day.

Massage can be a helpful source of comfort during pregnancy and postpartum recovery, but in some situations it is best to first check in with your OB or healthcare provider. If your pregnancy is high-risk, complications are present, you are recovering from a C-section or postpartum complications, or your provider has advised additional caution, I am happy to work with a provider release form before scheduling.
If you are unsure whether this session is right for you, just ask before booking and we will figure it out together.
